We are men...

We were walking across the parking lot on our way to the dollar theatre when I overheard David and Eli having the cutest conversation.

Eli, "I'm going to be first Daddy, let's run." (through the door of the theatre).

David, "Mommy and Emma are ladies, so they get to go first."

Eli, "Are we ladies?"

David, "No, we are men. And men hold open the doors for ladies to go through first."

Eli, Oh, ok."

Now you don't:

Seriously people, I am 6 months pregnant. But unless I'm wearing tight clothing I just look a little chubby around the middle. Maybe this baby will be another midget like Emma?

Our two 1st days of school

So we actually started our homeschool year back at the beginning of July. I wanted to get an early start so when the baby is born in December we could take some time off.

Here is Emma on the first day of homeschool working on her spelling.

Yes she is doing school in her pajamas, and though you can't see me I am also in my PJ's. I love homeschool. We've also done school in our bathing suits, dress up clothes, halloween costumes, and (if I'm really behind on laundry) in our underwear.

A typical day for us looks like this.

Wake up and breakfast
Watch Sesame Street while Mom cleans kitchen and preps lessons.
Math
Spelling
Break and snack time
History or Science (depending on the day)
Assigned reading
Grammar or handwriting (depending on the day)
Lunch
Free reading
Quiet Time
Computer time or TV time
Dinner
Chores
Family Time
Reading with Mom
Bed

It might look like a lot but the total schooling time is probably about 2 hours. Emma spends most of her day pretending to be a pirate with Eli. Or drawing treasure maps. Or helping me make banana bread. Ect.

We had our second 1st day of school last week. Every Thursday Emma goes to an Enrichment program at an elementary school in Ahwatukee. She goes from 830-330 and does Science, Music, Art, PE, recess, lunch, Spanish with a group of other homeschooling kids.

Here's a pic of her on her first day of school. She looks so old!Photobucket

Eli keeps asking me if he is 5 yet so he can go to school with Emma. He misses her so much when she is gone! I usually keep him happy by bribing him with McDonalds for lunch. Eli's school this year is pre-reading and basic counting skills. The goal is to have him reading by the time he starts kindergarten next year. We're working on alphabet sounds with him right now.
